Finolhu Villas is the world’s first luxury solar powered resort.

Club Med has announced the launch of  Finolhu Villas, a new eco-chic exclusive resort in the Maldives.

The new sustainably designed exclusive resort has been designed with respect to the local environment, and has adopted sustainable inclusions of the highest standards.

“All Villas are built to the highest eco-friendly standards in a beautiful natural setting, using energy saving construction techniques and solar-powered energy,” said Afeef Hussain, owner of Finolhu Villas.

Finolhu Villas are available for an adult only market, and are aimed at honeymooners and couples.

The resort uses eco-chic design by Tokyo-born, New York-based designer Yuji Yamazaki and Club Med interior designer Meriem Hall.

Architectural features that optimise passive energy, and elements that are in sync with the property’s idyllic natural surroundings are used throughout the Club Med resort. The entire resort is equipped with solar roofs that produce 100 per cent of the property’s energy requirements.

The sensitive design of the resort ensures guests are able to receive high end luxury without creating unnecessary negative impact on the environment.

Finolhu Villas guests are able to take advantage of the wide range of facilities, entertainment and dining options at the nearby Club Med Kani Premium Resort.

Sitting on stilts above the crystal-clear turquoise water and powdery white sand that make the Maldives one of the most recognisable and desirable holiday destinations in the world, the villas are conceived to be the last word in luxury while still intimate, subtle and comfortable, using a palette of colours including ocean blue, green, and orange that blend in with the natural surroundings.

The concept for the design of the Villas was “communication through space” with the aim of

creating a setting that is comfortable, even homely, using a unique blend of refinement,

exclusivity and eco-friendly design.

Finolhu Villas comprises 22 Beach Villas and 30 Lagoon Villas, complete with their own pools, terraces and ocean access from the Lagoon Villas.

Resort guests have the option of using the exclusive concierge facilities with top-of-the-range service and can choose from à-la-carte activities and services such as a private dinner or luxury spa treatment by British organic brand ILA.

Club Med Finolhu Villas are accessed using a 40 minute speedboat ride from the Malives’ international airport. Additional activities and recreational facilities at the Club Med Kani Premium Resort, five minutes away via boat.
