UK: The Tawny Hotel in Staffordshire will install 100 solar panels and 14 EV chargers by the end of this year.

The renewable energy investment means the hotel will generate and use more renewable energy, enough to power a large proportion of the day-to-day operations and a forecasted 20-tonne decrease in carbon emissions.

Josh Chadwick, The Tawny Hotel’s general manager said: “This next phase of development marks an exciting step in our sustainability journey. As pioneers of doing things differently, as we have with our deconstructed hotel design, we look forward to embracing this new state-of-the-art technology to enhance our services.”

The hotel’s Plumicorn restaurant, serves ingredients from the kitchen garden and local area and the Tawny is also introducing The Fledglings, three long stay serviced “retreats”, with the first opening in December this year.

Each “fledgling” property takes inspiration from the natural surroundings, bringing a sense of the outdoors in and include an outdoor heated pool. The other two retreats will open in 2024 and 2025.

Also in the UK Your Apartment also added solar panels to two of its properties while in Cornwall plans for 464 solar panels to be added to the iconic Headland Hotel grounds in Newquay were submitted to Cornwall Council in the summer. Northern Ireland’s largest hotel group, Andras Hotels, has also installed 947 solar panels at the group’s Crowne Plaza hotel in Belfast, representing an investment of £380,000.

We reported last week about Hilton installing Tesla charging stations at 2,000 hotels in the Americas.
