Thailand’s Zeavola Resort has been named the World’s Best Sustainable Hotel at the World Boutique Hotels Awards.
Located on Laem Ton beach at Koh Phi Phi, Zealvola Resort offers five-star luxury with minimal impact on the local environment.
The Resort operates a number of environmentally sustainable programs, including a Coral Freedom project which aims to minimise and reverse the effects of coral bleaching caused by global warming. Zeavola Resort has already grown and replanted more than 10,000 coral pieces around the island. Recently, the Resort was awarded a PADI Green Star Award for their coral regeneration program.
The property also reduces its water consumption with a water reserve system which uses wells and a reverse osmosis plant.
Zeavola is a Green Fin resort. Green Fin is an initiative of the Phuket Marine Biological Centre. The Centre has launched a reef watch and regeneration program called Project Coral Freedom.
Zeavola Resort also contributes to environmental education by offering guests a birdwalk, which allows travellers and bird lovers a glimpse into the island’s captivating tropical bird life.
