Hospitality giant Wyndham Worldwide has received an award from the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) for its commitment to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) community.
Receiving the award for Supplier Diversity Advocate of the Year, vice president of Global Supplier Diversity, Wynham Worldwide, Jose Nido said, “At Wyndham Worldwide, we understand the power of diversity. Every day we see immense value and benefit of varied cultures, experiences and perspectives that allow us to best meet our needs as we continue to grow as a global company.”
“Cultivating and expanding diversity throughout the company, including our supply partners, is one of our core values,” added Mr Nido.
According to the company, Wyndham’s supplier diversity program includes diverse suppliers when possible. Wyndham endeavours to expand its supplier diversity outreach worldwide, increase awareness of its supplier diversity programs and goals, and mentor and build partnerships with each supplier.
“We look forward to continuing our work with the NGLCC, but also further strengthening our relationship with even more diverse-owned businesses as we cultivate a global supplier diversity network where individuals from all types of backgrounds with different experiences and viewpoints are valued,” said Mr Nido.
Wyndham has achieved a number of accolades for their supplier diversity initiative, including Hispanic Network magazine’s “Best of the Best” Top 50 Supplier Diversity Programs for Hispanics and DiversityInc’s 2012 and 2013 Top 10 Companies for Supplier Diversity, in the US.
The NGLCC has over 29,000 members and is the larges LGBT business development and economic advocacy organisation in the world.
