Award-winning eco-boutique hotel, URBN Hotel Shanghai has up styled its sustainable inclusions to offer, amongst other things, a more natural sleep.
Opened in 2008, URBN Hotel Shanghai was one of the first eco hotels in China. The green boutique hotel has recently received a stylish yet sustainable makeover by celebrity fashion designer Jay Godfrey.
URBN Hotel Shanghai has incorporated sustainable design elements from the ground up. Recycled local timber and reclaimed bricks add a warm embrace, and reflect URBNs commitment to sustainability. Antique suitcases found in Shanghai’s local markets line the hotel’s lobby and lend a unique design to the differentiated hotel. URBN also supports the Million Tree Project, which aids the reduction of URBN Shanghai’s carbon footprint. Contributions to the Million Tree project are used to purchase trees for planting in a desertified Inner Mongolia forest.
URBN Shanghai’s new design treatment will feature a soothing neutral colour palette throughout the hotel, further enhancing the natural beauty of the recycled and reclaimed wood materials. All the guest rooms have been upgraded with new Mayair Technology air purification systems to ensure clean, purified air for hotel guests. Reflecting URBN’s commitment to fitness and health, the property also now features a brand new fitness centre called URBNfit.
URBN’s new re-designed guest rooms will feature URBN’s signature Renewal Bed, made from 100 per cent natural materials, including cactus fibre, seaweed and coconut fibre. Featuring a four-layer bed system and 600-thread count Egyptian cotton sheet, the new bedding promises ssa rich, restful and tranquil sleep experience. Eco-friendly light fittings provide sleek and sensual lines. Elegance exudes from rich silk and velvet draperies in the upstyled guest rooms.
The renovated URBN Shanghai will feature a signature Jay Godfrey designer suite. This 40 square metre suite features black lacquer finishes throughout, modern artwork, Tom Dixon pendant lights and an indoor-outdoor lounge 26 square metre terrace that overlooks the hotel’s signature courtyard space.
A new restaurant and bar called the BeerGRDN also features in URBN’s new look. Occupying the ground floor and in the lush outdoor courtyard, the new BeerGRDN will be a casual dining and social venue.
