Sustainable resort for a heritage town

The newly-rebranded InterContinental Lijiang Ancient Town Resort has opened its doors in the UNESCO World Heritage town of Lijiang.

The resort incorporates environmentally friendly efforts and traditionally inspired handcrafts into the property set in Lijiang Ancient Town, which is also known as Dayan Ancient Town.

Situated in the northwest of Yunnan province, Lijiang Ancient Town is a beacon amongst China’s historical town preservations. The charming town is proving to be an increasingly popular pick for holidaying travellers looking for the old world experiences such as the ancient Tea and Horse Caravan Trail.

Formerly known as Hotel Indigo Lijiang Ancient Town, the InterContinental Lijiang Ancient Town Resort will participate in IHG’s Green Engage program with initiatives such as a grey water recycling program and the the use of environmentally-friendly construction materials in the recent upgrading of the hotel such as wood sourced from sustainable sources in the public area.

The resort’s 274 guest rooms include 12 suites inspired by designs from the Naxi Dongba ethnic traditions lying amongst 51,000 square metres of sub-tropical gardens.
