Sri Lankan hotel, Templeberg Villa is raising funds for the Kosgoda Sea Turtle Conservation Project, according to wildlifevolunteercrowdfunding.com.

During May and June, and celebrating  World Turtle Day, World Environment Day, World Ocean Day and World Sea Turtle Day, the hotel will be raising funds together with wildlife volunteer to protect Sri Lanka’s sea turtles.

In 2014, a new Turtle Tank for the Centre was created through the fundraising.

This year the Centre requires an energy system to help protect Sri Lanka’s endangered leatherback sea turtles. A new electricity system is required to provide power for volunteers who work at night to protect the turtles and their hatchlings.

The Kosgoda Sea Turtle Conservation Project aims to stop the poaching of turtles by protecting their nest, and securing support for the conservation program from the local community.

“A new energy system will make our conservation efforts more effective and safe,” said Kosgoda Sea Turtle Conservation director Dudley Pererea.
