Hong Kong hotel properties, Cosmo Hotel Hong Kong, Cosmopolitan Hotel Hong Kong and Dorsett Mongkok have received Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) Corporate Citizenship Logo Awards in recognition for their corporate social responsibility programs.
In securing the Corporate Citizenship Logo Award 2014, the hotels were involved in the ‘One Family Programme’, an internal program introduced in 2012, and designed to provide learning opportunities for both hotel staff’s young family members, and students who require special care with the goal to improve their status quo.
The program offers staff the opportunity to enjoy parent-child or sibling relationships through various outings, and providing family members the chance to gain an understanding of the hotel industry and the work performed by their parents of siblings.
The three Hong Kong hotels initiated a revolutionary program called “Caring from Within”, that aims to provide work-life balance solutions for staff by offering five day works and birthday leave.
The hotels have also become involved in external initiatives, such as partnering with charitable organisations including SKHSt Christopher’s Home and Evangels Children Home. Under these partnerships, students from these organisations are given priority for internship placements in the hotels. Internships are tailored to suit the unique learning needs of each student. Under the program title “Caring for the Community”, students are mentored by hotel staff to learn in a helpful atmosphere.
Internship placements are run over a four to five week period, with students being placed in departments such as Front Office, Housekeeping and various other relevant departments. The program aims to equip students with real-life work experience in preparation to the next step after graduation.
“This recognition reaffirms our unswerving commitment to serving the community. One Family Programme is a huge success. We’ve inspired countless of people along the way, the students, the staff, social workers as well as the public who learnt of this programme through the news. We’ve witnessed the changes we brought onto these students; the harmonious workforce we have created and more importantly, the message of caring and loving instilled in every person we’ve come into contact,” said Anita Chan, the General Manager of three hotels.
“I’d like to thank HKPC for appreciating our effort by honouring us with this recognition. We will continue to step up our corporate social responsibility effort in order to benefit more and more people in need,” added Ms Chan.
