Parkroyal on Pickering – could it be any more green?

Entries for the Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific (HICAP) Sustainable Hotel Awards 2014 has opened, with entries being accepted until the end of July.

Launched in 2007, the HICAP Sustainable Hotel Awards will be held as part of the 25th annual HICAP in Hong Kong during October.

The awards look to recognise environmentally and socially sustainable initiatives within the hotel industry.

The Sustainable Hotel Awards dover four award categories including Sustainable Project Design, Sustainable Operations, Sustainable Destinations and Sustainable Communities.

Entrants are required to demonstrate the establishment and communication of sustainability and/or environmental management principles, a demonstrated effort to minimising negative economic, environmental and social impacts, a positive contribution to the conservation of natural and cultural heritage and the maintenance of diversity, and a cultural sensitivity, engendering respectfulness between tourists and hosts, and building of local pride and confidence.

The 2013 HICAP Sustainable Hotel Award winners included Holiday Inn Express Hong Kong SoHo, Parkroyal on Pickering in Singapore, Bambu Indah in Bali and Jetwing Lagoon, Sri Lanka.
