Cinnamon Grand Colombo is aiming to become Sri Lanka’s most sustainable city hotel by 2015.
In selecting the Cinnamon Grand Colombo, the hotel was commended for “introducing and implementing many green and energy saving initiatives during the year as well as creating awareness amongst internal and external customers.”
Receiving a number of international and national awards recently, it was noted that the award was given to the hotel, “in recognition of its commitment to sustainability and contribution towards maintaining a cleaner and greener environment through energy, waste and water management.”
The Cinnamon Grand Colombo has reduced its energy usage and carbon footprint in a number of ways. Improvements in waste management have also been established within the hotel using recycling and reusing, with a reduction in waste to landfill.
Rohan Karr, general manager of Cinnamon Grand Colombo said, “It is an honour to be the recipient of the Chairman’s Award for Sustainability. As a key player in the hospitality industry, five star luxury and indulgence is an offering we afford all our guests. But we do so within the precincts of our green vision, focused on reducing our carbon foot print, conserving energy and being environmentally responsible”.
